The Room Feels Smaller Now

Real Talk Vol. 43

Something has changed.

Not overnight.

Not dramatically.

But enough for me to notice it.

The room feels smaller now.

Not literally.

Just in the way certain things fit.

Conversations.

Goals.

Environments.

Even some versions of myself.

Things that once felt exciting

don’t always hold my attention the same way anymore.

Things that once felt far away

now feel possible.

And I think that’s the strange part about growth.

You don’t always notice yourself changing.

Until one day you look around

and realize you’ve outgrown something.

Not because it’s bad.

Not because you’re better than it.

But because you’re different now.

I’ve always been ambitious.

I’ve always wanted more for myself.

More experiences.

More opportunities.

More life.

And the older I get,

the clearer that vision becomes.

That’s a gift.

But sometimes it’s uncomfortable too.

Because your mind starts reaching for places

your current reality hasn’t reached yet.

You can see the next chapter.

You can feel it.

You can picture it.

But you’re still living in the chapter before it.

That’s where I find myself sometimes.

Grateful for what I have.

Proud of how far I’ve come.

But aware that my dreams have gotten bigger.

And once they get bigger,

it’s hard to shrink them back down.

It’s hard to convince yourself

that you’re meant to stay exactly where you are.

So I don’t.

I keep building.

I keep planning.

I keep showing up.

Because growth isn’t always about arriving somewhere new.

Sometimes it’s simply realizing

the room you’ve been standing in

no longer feels as big as it used to.

And maybe that’s a sign

that you’re getting closer than you think.
