Silence Is Still Control
Real Talk Vol. 39
Silence gets misunderstood.
People think it means
nothing is happening.
No thoughts.
No reaction.
No response.
But that’s not always true.
Sometimes silence is a decision.
A pause on purpose.
A choice not to engage.
A moment where everything is noticed,
but nothing is said.
Not because there’s nothing to say.
But because not everything
needs to be spoken out loud.
I’ve had moments
where I could’ve responded.
Cleared things up.
Corrected something.
Said exactly what was on my mind.
And I didn’t.
Not out of fear.
Not out of hesitation.
But out of control.
Because I’ve learned
that saying something
isn’t always the strongest move.
Sometimes the power
is in what you hold back.
In what you choose
not to entertain.
In what you let sit
without interference.
Silence doesn’t mean
I didn’t notice.
It doesn’t mean
I didn’t understand.
And it definitely doesn’t mean
I didn’t have a response.
It just means
I chose not to give one.
Some people mistake that for weakness.
And that choice
isn’t passive.
It’s intentional.
Because not everything
deserves my voice.
Some things
just get my distance.
