What I Still Love About Christmas

Christmas has always been my favorite holiday.

Not because of the gifts,

though let’s be honest, I love a present wrapped pretty with good intentions.

It’s the energy for me.

The twinkling lights.

The scent of vanilla or gingerbread in the air.

The sound of Mariah Carey, Boyz II Men, Justin Bieber (“Christmas Eve” supremacy), and Ariana Grande,

fighting for playlist dominance.

I love the movies, the reruns, the games, the traditions,

even the cheesy ones.

My favorite Christmas movie is The Polar Express.

And don’t get me started on “When Christmas Comes to Town.”

That song hits something deep every single time.

I love how houses look like glitter exploded on purpose.

I love Christmas trees,

big ones, little ones, mismatched ornaments, color-coordinated themes.

I love the warmth of it all,

even when life has been cold.

And let’s not forget Christmas dinner,

my forever love language.

This year feels different,

but the spirit still feels good.

So wherever you are,

surrounded by people

or keeping it chill on your own,

I hope you feel something joyful.

You deserve softness,

slowness,

and a little magic.
